October. A month just chock full of spooky spooks, great costumes, Halloween decorations, practically anything scary and fun around every corner. We did lots of great stuff, spooky, and fun.
Harvest Festival
The Harvest Festival is one of the biggest fund raiser of our school. In my opinion it is a candidate of the most exciting event and with biggest participation among Panthers. There were raffles, inflatables, wall climbing, fair games, and even a DJ! One of the inflatable was inspired by the 2008 TV show, Wipeout. Some kids were at the dodge ball circle showing their coolest dance moves and some were singing to their favorite songs and had a chance to be a DJ. A festival wouldn't be complete without the food! Have you tried the Hot Dogs, Tacos, and BBQ?
What We Learned
In Science we did an Element Baby Book project in Science this month. We had to choose an element, such as Lithium, or Iodine and make a slide presentation about your element, with facts.
We started Art this month. We learned about the lines and about the difference between positive and negative. Positive is a shaded shape while negative is a clear shape.
In math we learned about CUBES. It's an acronym that stands for Circle the numbers, Underline the question, Box the keywords Explain your citation, and Solve the question.
O'Neill Sea Odyssey
October 22, we went to the O'Neill Sea Odyssey field trip and in my opinion the best "first field trip" so far. We stayed on the beach for about three hours, making some sandcastles, throwing frisbees, having fun. We had lunch on the beach, then we made our way to the dock. We met the captain, his name was Justin, we sat down around this big net. One of the instructors went over some rules. She said that we could lay down, or sit on the net. But to get around the net, we had to crawl. A few minutes later, the instructor chose eight students to help put up the sail it was really fun. After a long time of laying and relaxing on the net, we separated into three groups. We learned how to use compasses, got to steer the boat, and learned why the ocean was green. Sometime later, the captain spotted some whales. They were Humpback whales to be exact. We watched them for a long time, we saw them flip their tails way high up in the air! It was so cool! One thing that stuck to me after the trip was how something as simple as keeping a light on in a room even if you didn't need it could contribute to air pollution. What about you? What are the things you learned on this trip? Add lesson you learned in comment.
