Routes of Exploration Notes (4th and 5th Grade)Explorers came to North America for many reasons but the main reasons were for GOD, GLORY or GOLD. Many explorers refused to give up their expeditions and would do ANYTHING to complete their quest for one or more of the 3G's and I mean ANYTHING.
As we analyze these explorers we may begin to feel conflicted by some or all of the issues that arose surrounding the expeditions and don't always agree with how or what the explorer did in attempt to complete the job they set out to do. It is important to learn from the mistakes that others have made in the past so we, as individuals and a society, do not repeat similar actions. However, we also must be conscience of the accomplishments these explorers made to understand how we as a society came to be today. Without them, would we be where we are today? |
