Pueblo Indian Art: The American Southwest is a mostly dry land of rocky mesas, deep canyons, steep cliffs, beautiful mountains, and colorful sunsets. Pueblo families taught their children the names and special powers of the kachinas by giving the children kachina figures and telling stories about the spirits they stood for. In Arrow to the Sun, the artist, Gerald McDermott, used a sunset with a watercolor wash and kachina figures to tell a story.
