The fight is not over!
Students and Teachers are greatly shocked about the announcement about the school closures! Santa Teresa is one out of the eight schools on the list. On December 4th, some staff and families gathered together at Bernal Intermediate School for the closure meeting for the five south region schools, that includes ours. One of our students in our classroom gave an amazing speech about her experience. On December 18th, there was a meeting. Staff members and families arrived to support our schools, and Santa Teresa thankfully got OFF the list! Although, we are probably dancing with joy, we might get back on the list! So, let's keep being a good school to fully convince them to get our school permantly off the list!
First Book Fair of the school year!
Despite all of the worries about the closures, we actually had a very exciting month! For Example, we had our first book fair of the school year! Some students gathered all of their savings and others just save up for the next one. Posters, Books, Collec tables, and much more were grabbed off the shelves! Our school has raised enough money for our school library to afford new books for students to read. We'll be looking forward to some new challenging and interesting books to read for our reading logs, #ReadingIsCool!
The Learning process of December
First to start off with, math was very challenging for some students. We learned about 10-by-10 grids and let me just say, making a nice, neat grid ISN'T easy! While we were doing the 10-by-10 grids, we learned how to divide decimals with a grid! Currently in math, we are learning about the PEMDAS operations! ( Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally or Parentheses, Exponent, Multiply, Divide, Add, and Subtract ) In Social Studies, we have an explorer project. So, all we have to do is research our explorer, make three old looking letters in a crew member's point of view, and draw a picture of our explorer! For Language Arts, we had a vocab menu for three weeks. Each week we have to do three out of nine choices for vocab. At last for writing, we learned about text structures! The book that we used for this activity was "Because of Mr. Terupt" and I'm pretty sure that at least one student in our classroom slaps their forehead because of what Alexia says and does!

What's happening in our classroom?
First, at least one student has been absent this school year. So, to make up the absences from students, our school is doing something called "Super Saturday!" This event happens every Saturday to fill in student absences. Super Saturday isn't that bad because when you're there you get to do fun activities! Such as, making crafts or drawing! We also watched a movie called "Secratariat", which is about a horse and a women who wants to save her father's horse farm. At last, we get 3 weeks off from school because of the holidays, so have a HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
