Personal Online Dictionary
During the time that students are reading their books, they will often read a word they don't know the meaning or may be able to read it, but are not sure what the word means.
When this happens, students will use a sticky note to write down the word(s) and then will have the opportunity later to find the meaning of the word using an online dictionary. Once the student finds the meaning that makes sense for the word found, the student will type that information into this form.
Students will need to have a minimum of 5 words typed, with the definition and synonym, every day. This is a part of reading accountability.
Latin and Greek roots along with pre and suffixes will be included as a whole class dictionary addition.
This is a growing assignment and will be checked throughout the school year.
